WCMSSM Alliance Annual Report 2019

Wayne County Alliance was a proud sponsor of the Fall Focus Symposium featuring Judge Rosemarie Aquilina on October 2, 2018 at the Country Club of Lansing. We heard about the challenges of facing abuse in our community and how we can use our voices to make a difference.
One of the MSMS Alliance membership perks is the availability of getting a grant to help support our County projects. We received a $250 grant that we were able use to assist in supporting the WCMS Foundation’s Annual Holiday Activities with a $500 donation.
On February 20th the Alliance held their Day at the Capitol. We visited the Michigan Legislators and advocated for our physicians. We partnered with MSMS and our position was adopted from the MSMS legislative initiatives.
The MSMS Alliance annual meeting was held at the Kellogg Center in Lansing on April 26th and 27th. Karen Begrow from Kent County was elected president. She was sworn in by our AMA Alliance president Camila Ponds.
The AMA Alliance Annual meeting will be held at the Hyatt Miracle Mile in Chicago on June 7th through the 11th. Alliance members will also attend the AMA House of Delegates opening on Saturday afternoon, where our president, Camila Ponds will address the AMA House of Delegates.
The Alliance, along with more than twenty organizations, is a proud member of PIN, Parent Information Network. PIN works together to better educate parents about the importance of childhood immunizations. Check out “ivaccinate.org” to see their powerful campaign to help parents protect their children by providing scientific information and research on vaccines.
Membership is an important lifeline to all organizations. We urge you to enlist your spouse/partner to join the Alliance. We need your financial assistance and call to action alerts responses from time to time.
You are our future. There are many opportunities for Alliance members to support the family of medicine. Please help me to promote membership in the Wayne County Medical Society Alliance, the Michigan State Medical Society Alliance and the American Medical Association Alliance.
